CASE STUDIES / ETSY POD — APPAREL & MUGS
ETSY PODEtsy print-on-demand: zero to $14K/month in 5 months.
A first-time Etsy seller's apparel & mugs POD brand — 120+ designs across 3 niches, no inventory ever held.
The Challenge
Print-on-demand is Etsy's most crowded game — thousands of sellers uploading the same generic tees and mugs, racing each other to the bottom on price. The client had a small budget, no design background and no audience. The challenge: build a POD brand that could win without out-designing or out-spending anyone — by out-positioning everyone.
Our Strategy
Micro-niches, not "t-shirts". Our research pod mapped hundreds of long-tail buyer searches — professions, hobbies, occasions — and picked three micro-niches where demand was proven but the top listings were weak: generic designs, lazy mockups, poor SEO. Every design was built to own a specific keyword cluster, with tees, mugs and wall art per niche, each listing SEO'd to its own long-tail terms. Etsy Ads came online only after organic conversion was proven — then ramped hard on the winners.
Execution
- Micro-niche research across 100s of long-tail buyer searches
- 3 micro-niches selected on demand vs. listing weakness
- 120+ designs produced — tees, mugs & wall art
- Listing SEO per design: titles, tags & descriptions
- Conversion-focused mockups & A/B-tested thumbnails
- Etsy Ads ramp on proven converters only
- Print-provider routing for margin & shipping speed

MONTHLY REVENUE — FIRST 5 MONTHS
"I can't draw and I'd never sold anything online. GEC picked the niches, made the designs and ranked them — month five was $14K, and I've never packed a single order."
